Project Overview

'Two Points’ is a data visualisation project about how spaces in our everyday lives tend to be overlooked. The idea was to compare differences and similarities between them.  I wanted to take this concept and push it to a dynamic level.

These 3D animations are examples of data taken from two spaces of the Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford, London. The data was recorded on the same day and at the same time from two separate floors, one below the other. One space is a Food Court which is located on the 1st floor, the other is a 'Prayer's Space' located on the 2nd floor.

*The data was recorded over a 2 day period to see if anything would change in 2 separate locations of the shopping centre.

Food Court Space Tests

Using the Food Court data of people’s movement in and out of the space during a specific amount of time, I wanted to visually represent what this could look like. I used blue and red to distinguish the information.

The visuals below represent one of the outcomes using the data collected in a prayers’ room, at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford created in Cinema 4D.

The smooth sphere represents no movement of people, and the wavy sphere represents the people going into the space as time goes on. This is to show the frequency of the movement of customers in and out of the space.

I calculated that as Cinema 4D uses frames p/ seconds that each frame is 1 second and therefore, will be 380 frames altogether to make up 6 minutes of footage. Each person in and out is 20cm of strength of waves.

Food Court Animation

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
